I cant quite believe that we are heading into the final week of our Dinosaur Topic in Carne class. For the last week we will be welcoming some new scientists from Pendower into our class (year 1 and 2 children) to learn about Mary Anning as part of Science Week and we will be making the final preparations for the exciting opening of our Dinosaur Natural History Museum on Friday 19th February. Tickets will be on sale in church on the morning of Friday the 19th and the Museum will be open straight after church until just before lunch time. We look forward to sharing with you all we have learned. We will be donating some of the funds raised to The Mary Anning Statue appeal in Lyme Regis as well as putting some of the funds towards enhancing our outdoor learning environment. The children have their eye on some climbing apparatus for the decking to accompany the ladder they bought with their Scarecrow competition winnings earlier in the year.
We look forward to seeing you on Friday 19th for our Grande Finale!
Meanwhile , here's a sneak preview of all the work that has been happening behind the scenes!
Happy New Year Everyone ! I'm really looking forward to seeing you all and getting stuck into our topic this half term! Please see the topic web and timetable below for more information.
Please remember to send reading books and records in to school everyday so we can make the most of every reading opportunity. I know it can be a bind but we really appreciate it if you can record all the lovely reading practice you do at home so we can make sure all children are getting a good reading diet and we can support their learning in partnership with you.
We will be welcoming a student teacher into our class and look forward to working with her. She is call Miss Coon and is in her final year of teaching practice.
We will be making the most of outdoor learning opportunities as they arise so it is important that all children have spare clothes in their bags- especially the things we are in very short supply of at school like socks and tights. PE kits are required on Mondays and Wednesdays and Wild Tribe gear is a must everyday for us in Carne class as our outdoor area is used daily by the children and can get quite wet at this time of year.
Thank you, as always, for working with us to provide the best days at school we possibly can.
Carne Class - Nursery, Reception and Year 1
In Carne Class we use the EYFS curriculum and the National Curriculum. Children learn through guided sessions, play and practical based activities. Not only do activities focus on academic abilities, but also on social and emotional aspects, supporting the child as a whole. In Carne Class we cater for Nursery, Reception and Year 1 children. We use the Birth to 5 matters guidance and the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework as well as the National curriculum. These documents provide the basis of our planning, however the rest is driven by the needs and interests of the children. By nurturing genuine and trusting relationships we aim to provide a varied and stimulating curriculum packed full of experiences that make learning meaningful and memorable.
See below for planning for topics that have gone by.
For Spring 2 we are whizzing 65 million years forwards after the extinction of dinosaurs to explore the exciting lives of cavemen and women and most importantly Cave Baby! We will be thinking about what Cave Baby needed and how he learned to paint and draw. We will take time to try and understand one another better and help each other to grow. We will be looking at growth and change as well as celebrating Mothers Day and Easter. We will begin planting for our exciting Farmers Market next term as well as practicing the all important skills of reading, writing and maths as well as becoming better friends and striving always to meet our full potential. Check out our topic web and timetable below for more info!
