We aim to offer sporting opportunities to our children at Veryan School to develop life-long skills and confidence in physical education. Our curriculum focuses on skill based activities and we are lucky enough to have a specialist PE teacher who delivers this once a week in addition to other PE sessions undertaken by our class teachers.
We offer a wide range of clubs for the children including Bikeability, ball skills, yoga, High Impact Training, movement and dance. We have close links with our feeder school at The Roseland Academy and take part in the many organised festivals and tournaments at the Academy alongside other local schools and schools within our MAT. We are currently working in partnership with Plymouth Argyle to deliver football training with football specialists in an after school club and bowling for our year 5 and 6 children at Veryan Bowling Centre on Monday afternoons.
At various points throughout the year we are able to offer sailing at Percuil Paddle and Sail, swimming and Bikeability cycling proficiency in addition to our usual PE lessons.
Miss Jazmin Danks and Mr Rory Webb are our PE specialists at Veryan and would be happy to discuss any element of school PE lessons.
Starting from January 2020 Veryan School will begin to take part in the Daily Mile. This is a whole school initiative where all the staff and children will join together to walk. skip, run, for around 15minutes each day. Our Daily mile will take place at approximately 10:15-10:30am in all weathers; building resilience and helping the children connect to nature and the changing seasons.
